Recovered Rope Report

KEEPING BREVARD BEACHES CLEAN
FOR LOVE OF PEOPLE AND ANIMALS

Sunday afternoon found us at the Loggerhead beach access in Melbourne Beach.

For those of you who don't know, Brevard County, FL is the largest nesting area in the Northern Hemisphere for Loggerhead sea turtles.

Like our Saturday cleanup, there was tons of broken plastic all over the place.  Before we knew it, we had spent three hours cleaning up trash. We found lots of rope to add to my stash.

On a sad note...there was a woman on the beach who said  she has seen two dead sea turtles wash up with fishing line wrapped tight;y around their necks.  It's heartbreaking.

Mostly styrofoam,  looks like a Gilligan special
but it is actually a Lockheed Martin special, hmmmm
Today we visited the beach at Patrick's Air Force Base.  There was plenty of junk waiting for us.  We met another beach cleaner.  Yea!  She told us she finds a lot of shotgun shells.   I have found a few but had no idea where they would come from.  She informed us that they come from the cruise ships; people shooting skeet off the deck.

Okay....it's time for the rope report.
I have been doing this blog for over a month now and in that time I have collected........532ft of rope.  That is 177.33 yards.  Almost two football fields.  Think about it.  This amount is coming from one county in one state on the Eastern Seaboard.  Consider how much more must be out there.    As I find it I will be adding the length to my tally.
Thanks for visiting my blog and as Willy S would say...
gettest thou to a sandy reach
spreadest thine arms
and huggest yon beach.

A soon to be

could be from St Barts

Hmmm, let's see... Royal Rooster Soda?
