OF PEOPLE AND ANIMALS

Ever vigilante in Paradise
The beach was busy on a Tuesday afternoon. Lots of tourists and snowbirds. We cruised Paradise Beach, it was looking beautiful!
Not much litter to be found.  We're waiting on a good winter storm to bring about a plastic purge.
Not that we are having a winter.  It's been 79 F for days,  25 C.  Lovin' it!
Little foamy flower looking thingy
I collected about 4 cigarette butts yesterday and let me tell you, those 4 little butts made my tote bag stink to high heaven! I couldn't believe how strong the smell was from 4 little butts. My hats off to Danielle from- It Starts With Me-(check it out on blogspot.com) who collects many more than I do and must endure a serious stench.
Little stinker
Today we hit Ocean Ave in Melbourne Beach.  Again the beach looked beautiful.  We focused on the smaller bits of plastic and stinky cigarette butts.

Beach hugs;  protecting from protection
Fish like shiny things

Yesterday we found 15 ft. of rope at Paradise Beach, Indialantic and today at Melbourne Beach we collected 3 ft.    The total has reached 1148 ft. of rope or 382.66 yards.  I'm moving in on another touchdown!  We collected maybe 3 lbs. of trash.

Thanks for checking in,
bye for now,

Happy New Year

KEEPING BREVARD BEACHES CLEAN FOR
LOVE OF PEOPLE AND ANIMALS

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Rain and the holidays have kept me away but I'm back!

Hypodermic needle still intact
we took it to a fire station
for disposal
Friday, Dec 30 was my last cleanup of the year. We went to Melbourne Beach at Ocean Ave.
Serious slurpy straw system
We found 5 feet of rope
new total:1036 ft.
It was nice and warm, around 70 F, 20 C.  Scotty, Lee and I filled three totes of junk.

Today was a different story, temperature wise.
Us spoiled Floridians woke to chilly temps yesterday morning.
It was in the 20s. -5 C.Yipes! It stayed in the 40s all day 5 C. This morning it was a little warmer- 30s, getting up to the 50s, teens C.
Lee and I bundled up and braved the cold (LOL)
to do a cleanup in Paradise, Paradise Beach, Indialantic.

Not much litter to be found, which is nice. Our beaches are still pretty! I want them to stay that way.

Funky foam
A lot of cigarette butts today.   We usually don't find too many but today they were all over.

The only message in this bottle:
PICK UP YOUR TRASH!
Today we found 14 ft. of rope tangled up among the dried seaweed.
Our total to begin the new year is....1050 ft. or 350 yds.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope your holidays were grand.

Plastic, Hmmm. Seemed Like a Good Idea At The Time

KEEPING BREVARD BEACHES CLEAN FOR
LOVE OF PEOPLE AND ANIMALS

Christmas is coming!  Shopping, sewing, baking etc. has not allowed me as much time at the beach as I would like.

I did, however, do a beach cleanup yesterday with my son; today I flew solo.
Scotty, on the trail of trash.
Monday's cleanup was in Paradise,  Paradise Beach, Indialantic. Awww that sounds so nice and it is but of course all the usual yuck was there. It was  mild around 72 F, 21C. (I still wore a jacket) We made it to the beach as the sun was dimming.
always lovely to find one of these
We collected two tote bags full of all kinds of debris; lots of big plastic chunks.
I'm sure between us we collected over 10lbs.  The rope count for the day was 37 ft. , elevating the rope total to 949 ft. or 316.33 yds.

Un-natural at the beach
Today I hit Ocean Ave. in Melbourne Beach.  Another sunset session and another day of big chunks of plastic.  It didn't take long to fill my tote. I dumped it and went back for seconds.  Leaving was difficult.  One more thing I have to get, one more thing I have to get. Finally my bag was becoming difficult to carry so I had to pack it in.  Walking past debris on the way to the boardwalk, I tried not to think of the harm it may bring.  I can't get it all.  I did collect 38 ft. of rope moving my total up to 987 ft. or 329 yds.  Moving in on another football field.

Thanks for checking in.
